Amazing Stereo Sound With The H4N Zoom

Back a few months ago, I purchased a Zoom H4N Audio recorder.  It has been very handy, and I can very highly recommend it, but I am not posting a advertisement.

I really wanted to see what this little, but powerful recorder could do, so I decided to take it outdoors and do a 360 degree walk around my house.  The results were so amazing I decided to let you guys hear them.

I will give you a little idea as to what you are hearing, but most off it will be left to your imagination.  It starts out with you hearing fly's buzzing on my car in the sun, then I walk out back in the open to our back yard too where my sister is playing the guitar with our two dogs laying the the sun.  Then to our back porch and then around back to the front and inside our house.

Also, keep in mind that this is using the built in microphone, with the range set on a 90 degree recording pattern.  There was no audio editing done to this and no restoration.  What you hear is what I got!

Now then, enough of that, lets begin!  Make sure you have headphones on, the best pair you own as without headphones the little details you will never hear!  Trust me, I have tried them both.

Close your eye's and hit the play button!  Enjoy!

Chalk Drawing Animation

Wow, it has been a long time since I posted anything!!

There have been many projects the I have worked on in the last few months, but none as challenging or as fun as this one.

Someone needed some still images to be drawn in chalk.  I really had no idea how to do this, but after searching all my references, I came up with something that worked well!

I though that I would post my demo that I sent to my client to see if this is what he was looking for.

Morning Has Broken Music Video

Something else that I have never tried was a music video.  I personally thought that it wouldn't be that hard.  I was wrong.  It is very difficult.  However, I learned alot from the experience and if I ever do another, I will be sure to apply what I learned!

Anyway, here is the video.  My two sisters, my brother and I were the ones that did it.  My sister Grace played the guitar, my other sister Keri, did the other instruments.  My brother Seth worked the bounce boards and I did the camera work and sound mix.

I was really amazed at how much color I could put into this video.  I think that I was able to make it look very close to morning.  By the way, the sun wasn't real....I added that too!  Since we filmed it around 8 a.m., the sun was already up in the sky too far.

Here are some before and after pictures to show how much color I was able to bring back and the fake sun:

Panorama

One thing that I have never tried to do was a panorama.  So, I decided to try one:

Here are the three images that I used as well as the images joined together, without all of the color grading as so on:

I was amazed at the fact that I was able to bring back the clouds so much!!  Also, I should clarify, I used Photoshop and After Effects to make this.  After Effects was used for the color grading and the actual stitching together of the images as well as the sun.

Photoshop was just used to get rid of some of the seam problems.  I would have done everything in Photoshop, but it kept wanting to crash on me.

Anyhow, have you ever tried to do a Panorama?  If so, I would love to hear about it!
